The Cape Town Carnival opens at 5pm – Chad Saaiman,Lloyd Jansen and Satisfaction
The Cape Town Carnival will ignite the Fanwalk, Somerset Road, Greenpoint on Saturday 24 March 2012.
The theme of the 2012 Carnival is Cape to Cairo and it takes you us on a journey through Africa and its people, sights and sounds; a visual and sound explosion of themed floats, each accompanied by 150 performers and dramatic lead dancers. The Carnival will be lead by African Queens and end with a view into a futuristic Egypt.
The Carnival opens at 5pm on the Fanwalk with street performers and a concert at the Stadium forecourt featuring Chad Saaiman, Lloyd Jansen and Satisfaction.
The Carnival Procession starts at 8pm from Dixon Street and proceeds along Somerset Road to York Street with food and merchandise available for sale en route.
After the procession, DJ Dino Bravo will be spinning the decks until midnight.
This Carnival actively involves Capetonians as spectators and participants and is free to the public. MyCiti buses, Metrorail and Golden Arrow will be running late to take revelers safely home
The central theme; “Cape to Cairo: Celebrate our city, country, continent” is truly embraced in this cultural collaboration.
