New Music: Steven Lee releases Magic
STR interview with Steven Lee:
STR: Finally, the 1st single drops. How do you feel about that?
STEVEN LEE: I feel like it took a while and I’m just happy it’s finally done. So I’m really excited.
STR: You perform at many nightclubs in and around South Africa, what do you love and hate the most about performing in clubs?
STEVEN LEE: Yes I do and I actually enjoy performing at night clubs because you always have to be creative, because sometimes their won’t even be a stage so you have to make do with what you have. What I dislike is that at some places is not “performance venues” so sound is not always the greatest…..oh and the smoke can get a bit much too.
STR: How has the response to “Magic” been?
STEVEN LEE: So far the response has been good, lotsa ladies like the track which is good. Waiting for the dudes to catch on…..
STR: How do you separate being a member of Satisfaction from your solo career?
STEVEN LEE: It’s so much of a difference because the whole style is kinda different even the type of music. I would say my Solo career I’ve been working on longer and Satisfaction is kinda just starting out… I’m glad that I have the opportunity to do my own music and also be part of an amazing group. And with my name growing the group’s name grows. So we win both ways
STR: What has been the best moment of your career thus far?
STEVEN LEE: Best moment of my career would be going to New York and recording a track with Wyclef Jean and Fergie. Was the Best Experience Ever! To actually be there with them and meet them was so awesome.
STR: If you could collaborate with any local artist, who would it be?
STEVEN LEE: It would be between Kabelo or Loyiso
STR: At which age did you start dancing and singing?
STEVEN LEE: Started dancing at the age of 8 and singing at 14/15
STR: Being able to do both at the same time, equally well, gives you an edge against other performers. Do you use this to your advantage?
STEVEN LEE: Yeah I think that’s one of my strong points because I know I don’t have one of the best voices in the world….but I know what to do with it and then the dancing just adds that extra power to the performance. So I definitely use it to my advantage yes.
STR: You have a well-known brother, who is a professional footballer. Does he support your music, and you his football?
STEVEN LEE: Yeah Stanton and I are really close and we always support each other…he actually comes to Almost every performance I do if he is available and same for me whenever he plays imp at the stadium if I can’t be there imp watching him on TV.
STR: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
STEVEN LEE: I wouldn’t change a thing……God made me the way I am…so I must be proud.
STR: Favourite quote?
STEVEN LEE: To live like a King you must work like a Slave
STR: Favourite city in the world?
STEVEN LEE: New York
STR: Favourite song right now?
STEVEN LEE: Magic haha just kidding. It’s a hard one but honestly Up tempo is…Micasa- These streets. Ballad… Chad Saaiman – Soldier.
STR: Word of encouragement for young up-and-coming singers out there?
STEVEN LEE: Work hard…believe in yourself Always. Also remember.. Fame will eat you…..Success will Feed you!
