London Diaries #4 – Chad Saaiman

chad_saaiman_10The final week of my London trip has arrived.

We have had some really interesting meetings to say the least. We met with world music producer and earthling Jonathan Dodds, who made me realise that sometimes the sounds and the resources are in your very own backyard. He also made me want to travel a bit more and inspired all of us with the ”Playing for Change” video. Do check out.He is an experienced, inspiring and talkative individual. We listened.

We also met with our online specialist here Leena, who is developing the .com website. She has handled the UK online portfolio’s for many many a great name such as John Legend, Mary J Blige and Pink. She knows her story. We listened. At the same time we meet with Trevor Fisher, who is an artist developer. He knows the UK industry inside and out. I wonder how many artist developers there are in S.A…the question is, are artists up for being developed? Can you admit that you need to learn more and be moulded? I can, especially in this new, fast and happening UK market.

I realised that here my USP (unique selling point) is far greater than in South Africa. All I have to do here is be myself, be South African and that makes me so much more different than anyone else. There has been so much buzz here from the S.A media and i have been doing interviews left, right and centre. You know I love interviews,so I’m happy.

We have created a musical portal between London and Cape Town, and it’s so exciting. Watch this space -Step 1 of the Stereotype Records Global Plan.

I have one more gig here at The Regal Rooms, then I fly home on Saturday, arrive Sunday and then do The Black Ties sing Motown at On Broadway. It may seem busy, but it’s that rush that keeps me going. That high on stage is invaluable, irreplaceable and priceless. People would pay big money to experience this high. I do it for a living.

Chat soon,God Bless.
