Byron Clarke counts down to SAMA 2010
It’s April which means that it’s time to countdown to what is arguably the biggest event on the SA music calendar – The South African Music Awards. Last year Chad Saaiman was nominated for his album Chasing Melodies (on sale now) and in 2010 it’s the turn of Byron Clarke. Byron’s debut album “Self Inflicted” has been nominated for Best Rnb/ Neo Soul album at the 2010 SAMAs.
The album, which was released less than six months ago through Stereotype Records, has been well received by radio stations across the country and has generated three charting singles currently receiving airplay across South African radio.
“Self Inflicted” is a pop inspired album that draws strongly on Clarke’s acoustic rock as well as folk music influences. It is the first offering from the relatively unknown Byron Clarke who says “It feels like it’s been a lifetime in the making, but I’ve been fortunate to work with talented musicians and a great team, and at the end of the day the music speaks for itself.”
The full album is available for listening at http://bit.ly/9eJHWr and the first single “In The Grey” (written by fellow SAMA nominee Chad Saaiman) is available as a free download at http://bit.ly/97zzmT.
“Self Inflicted” is available for download at Rhythm Records (a South African online music store) as well as iTunes, Amazon.com, eMusic.com and is available at good music stores nationwide.
