BLOG: Bruno Mars proves he’s different – actually can sing live

Bruno Mars

It’s no secret that a lot of today’s, ahem, artists aren’t really able to crack it singing live. Most of the time things devolve into a spectacle of bright lights, special effects and a really loud noise. I like Bruno Mars and I’ve been listening to his album Doo-Wops & Hooligans for the past few months and thoroughly enjoying it. And now I like him even more thanks to his amazing live sets.

Mr Mars (real name Peter Gene Hernandez) has gone on to prove that in addition to being able to put out a great studio product, he’s also able to perform live, outdoing many of the other artists floating around the charts (can you say Adam Lambert).

While his performance at the 2011 Grammy awards might have been a little shaky in places, it was thoroughly enjoyable. A better example though, is his stage time during his MTV live session, which he rocked right through.

Here’s Bruno Mars performing Grenade at the MTV Live session:

I’m pretty sure that not having the hell auto-tuned out of his voice has certainly helped him deliver a live performance that’s almost every good as the album.

I have to admit that I have been a fan of this guy way before his debut was released. Bruno along with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine make up The Smeezingtons which have done amazing work with other artists. I have so much respect for this his talent. In fact, I believe that his live sets are more incredible than the tracks Doo-Wops & Hooligans.
You should have a listen to “Bruno Mars Live: Billboard Tastemakers”!
